Where we work, and why it changes the answer

Calgary is two markets for this trade and the line between them is not a quadrant boundary, it is a decade. What is buried under a property decides everything about what can be done to it, and what is buried is set by when the ground was built out.

These pages are organised by development era rather than by postal code, because the era is what decides the material and the material decides the job. In the older rings the lateral is commonly jointed clay under a mature tree canopy, and a recurring backup there is often a line that has reached the end of its joints. In the newer communities the same house has plastic in long runs with almost nothing for a root to enter.

That difference is worth more to you than it is to us. The same symptom — a drain that keeps backing up — is a failing line on one side of it and a blockage in a pipe with decades left in it on the other. On the newer side the honest answer is usually a cleaning and an invoice you will barely notice, and several of the pages below say so about their own town in the first paragraph.

We work across the city and the surrounding municipalities. Pick whichever page is closest to what you own — the era is what matters, not the boundary — and if the answer on that page is that your line is probably fine, that is the answer.

Every area we cover

Calgary and its quadrants

Round-ups of the range of development eras in each quarter of the city, and therefore of what is most likely in the ground.

Outside Calgary

Separate municipalities, each with its own authority having jurisdiction and a mostly newer buried stock.

Not on the list?

The ten pages above are the places we work often enough to have something specific to say about. If you are somewhere else in the Calgary region, call and ask — the answer is either yes or a straight no, and you will get it on the phone rather than after a site visit.

The camera settles it

Era and material are generalisations about a neighbourhood. What is under one property is a matter of fact, and it takes an afternoon to establish.
